Mac & Wild Falls of Shin: drinks and ceilidh

Madeline Pratley | Date posted - 10 Apr 2019

Mac & Wild is a Scottish restaurant ran by two Scots, Calum and Andy. They brought meat from Andy’s family butchery, Ardgay Game, to a street market stall in London in 2012, and haven’t looked back since. The demand completely outstripped supply. It turns out people really love venison and big juicy burgers.

After opening two restaurants in London, they’ve opened Mac & Wild Falls of Shin just three miles from the butchery. More than just a restaurant, Falls of Shin is a place for the community, so whether you’re just visiting or you’re a highlander born and bred, there’s plenty to get involved with.

If you like a wee boogie, and a drink or three, these events at Mac & Wild’s Fall of Shin location will be perfect for you…

Live Ceilidh Music with Zoe Livings

Get your dancing shoes on and have a ball during an evening of live ceilidh music with Zoe Livings. She’ll be playing traditional Highland reels, jigs and ceilidh music while you have your dinner at Mac & Wild. Make sure you book your table so you can enjoy some food while you perform your best Gay Gordons. Get the tasting boards ranging from £19 – £25 so you can have a nibble while you listen to the fiddle.

Rock Rose Gin tasting

Another event to tickle your fancy might be the Rock Rose gin tasting. An award-winning gin from Thurso in the North of Scotland, Rock Rose gin is a delicious premium Scottish gin. It gets its flavour from a carefully selected range of local and traditional botanicals. Hear the story of Rock Rose from their excellent brand ambassador and try their delicious gins. You’ll also get a delicious three course meal from their head chef Lucas, who will pair botanicals with excellent Scottish produce.

Gin and Whisky Tasting with Dornoch Distillery

Phil and Simon Thompson opened one of the world’s leading whisky bars in Dornoch, but they’re now looking to go bigger and better and have started making their own whisky and gin on-site at Dornoch castle, which is Dornoch’s first whisky distillery. Exciting times. If you want to hear all about their journey, drink a couple of drams, and sample some of their gin, then sign up to this gin and whisky tasting. It’s going to be held on 17th May at 7pm, and at £40 per person it’s a steal since it includes a three course set dinner made by the team at Mac & Wild.

Scotland is bursting with natural goodness but also creative talent. The events at the Falls of Shin will provide an opportunity for you to enjoy the best of both whilst enjoying some fantastic age old traditions that sit sympathetically with modern living. Enjoy!
