Desserts in Glasgow: top pudding picks

Everyone knows Scottish people have a sweet tooth. The whole country almost came to war when they cut the sugar in Irn Bru, and “Jamie Oliver” is still a swear word in various parts of Glasgow. So it’s no surprise that we absolutely love a dessert. Whether it’s sticky toffee, chocolate gateau, or ice cream and strawberries, we go wild for it. To help you choose where to satisfy that sweet tooth, we’re rounded up the best places for desserts in Glasgow.

Five March

Trust us on this, the chocolate parfait at Five March is one of the best things you’ll ever put in your mouth. Reading it on the menu, you could be forgiven for thinking it was a breakfast dish, with its blueberries, granola, and maple syrup accompaniments. However, one bite will dispel that. It’s rich, creamy, and very chocolatey and is the perfect way to round off a meal of small plates. It also works well with a variety of drinks from their menu, created to complement the food. One of our favourites is  the Campfire Embers cocktail, featuring whisky, chestnut, rabarbaro, and oak.

TGIs

Whatever you might think of big chains, there’s no question that TGIs know how to do an incredible dessert. If you’re looking for big, bold, and super tasty desserts in Glasgow, TGIs should be top of your list: we’re not ashamed to admit we’ve popped in just for a sweet treat more than once. From our extensive research, we’d need to recommend the pecan caramel tear and share (yes really!) or their classic cookie dough sundae. If you’re looking for something a little lighter, the Birthday Cake Shake is not to be missed. Just don’t get a shake and a dessert if you don’t fancy being rolled out.

Public House by Nico

No one does a stodgy pudding better than a great British Pub and there’s nothing we love more than a stodgy pudding. King of these is the classic sticky toffee pudding, a dish that’s definitely travelling west-wards for. It’s not just any “STP” they serve at Public House though, it’s one served up with salted caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream. It’s the kind of dessert that you’ll want to unbutton your jeans for!

Atlantic Brasserie

If you’re on the hunt for desserts in Glasgow, can we recommend French gem, The Atlantic Brasserie? As we all know the French are renowned for loving a sweet treat (much like us Glaswegians), and this place is no different. They do classic desserts, prepared in Glasgow, with a French panache, according to their site, and we kinda need to agree. Drool over treats like a sugar glazed lemon tart with raspberry sorbet, or chocolate and hazelnut cheesecake, or satisfy your salty tastes with some of their delicious cheeses. Desserts in Glasgow? You’ll feel like you’re overlooking the Eiffel Tower!

Lebowskis

Is a cocktail a dessert? If we had our way, it would be. Whether you’re heading to Lebowskis for their famous burgers or even-more famous White Russians, you 100% shouldn’t miss out on their great dessert menu. It even features a White Russian cheesecake that combines all the goodness of their famous signature cocktail with a crumbly biscuit base. It might be wise to not go for too many of their delicious sides to fit them in though, this isn’t the place to head if you’re on a diet!!

Eusebi Deli

If anyone knows a thing or two about desserts in Glasgow, it’s this popular Italian deli. Although, they have a full menu filled with fresh pasta and tasty sandwiches, one of our favourite things is sitting in their little outside area with a coffee and a sweet treat, watching the world go by. Go for their classic rich tiramisu, or push the boat out with a fresh fruit tart, and wash it down with their classic espresso. Catch them on a sunny day and you could almost be in Rome!
